The Fat Gripz bar attachments have been developed as an effective alternative to the standard gripper training tools, and a way of increasing your forearm and grip strength without needing to add any new exercises to your current workout program.

How do they work?

[one_half]The Fat Gripz are made from a military-grade high-density compound designed to grip the bar tightly without causing damage to the bar or become compressed when gripped.

As well as being able to use both at the same time in the case of barbell exercises, you can also use the Fat Gripz individually with dumbbells.

Taking into account the tapered handle design of some barbells, each end of the Gripz has been bevelled and tapered inwards to make sure they still grip the handle securely.[/one_half]

Whereas many training aids such as weightlifting straps and knee straps can take a while to setup for the lift, these can be clipped onto the bar in less than 10 seconds.

It doesn’t matter if you’re curling 60 lb or deadlifting 500 lb. Fat Gripz won’t compress – so you’re always getting effective thick bar training.

    What are the benefits?

[one_half]If you have been lifting weights for a while you will probably already have experience of lifting weights with varying bar thicknesses.

The most common example is the difference between the lighter barbells which usually have a 1 inch diameter for weight plates, and the heavier Olympic barbells that have a diameter of 2 inches.

Even this relatively small change in bar thickness will be felt in your forearms and upper arms when lifting the weight.

It’s likely that most people wouldn’t have experience lifting weights with a bar thicker than the standard Olympic bar you will see in most gyms or be supplied with most barbell weight sets.[/one_half]

This means that the increase in bar width created by the Fat Gripz will act as more of a shock to your muscles, even in exercises that you may already perform every week such as barbell curls and shrugs.

    Increasing your strength

Lifting weights using a thicker bar will also have the benefit of increasing your grip strength. While grip training using grippers or forearm extensions is certainly effective, many people just don’t have the time to add extra exercises to their workouts.

By simply thickening the bar for a few sets of exercises in your normal training routine this will help to strengthen your grip in a similarly effective way.

    Reduces the risk of injury

Although the Fat Gripz may be used most often for ‘pull’ type exercises such as deadlifts and dumbbell rows, they are also an excellent addition to ‘push’ exercises such as the bench press.

The weight of the bar will be distributed more evenly across a larger surface area of your palm, resulting in less pressure being applied directly on top of your wrist.

Because the vast majority of exercises rely on you using a barbell, dumbbell or straight / cambered cable attachment, you can use them to help develop greater strength in whichever is your weakest exercise.

Using a thick-handled bar is one of the very best things you can do to develop maximum muscular size and strength. It develops levels of upper body power virtually incomprehensible to those who train only with regular bars – Brooks Kubik, multiple world record holder and author of Dinosaur Training
