Design features

Marcy Bruce Lee Dragon Adjustable Dumbbells

With any set of adjustable dumbbells it’s important to have some form of storage. While for some sets this can mean you having to spend more money on a storage rack, the Marcy Bruce Lee Dragon Adjustable Dumbbells come with their own custom made support stands.

The stable base created by these storage trays makes it easy to adjust the weight of the dumbbells and slide off the weight plates you don’t need.

This is done by lifting up the pin on top of the bar and sliding it to the weight you require. This is clearly marked along the sliding track for the pin, with increments of 2.5kg.

The shape of these 2.5kg weight plates has been designed as a square to help even out the weight distribution of the plates that remain on the bar, as well as preventing them from rolling away when rested on the ground.

The metal grip section features knurling to improve your grip without the need for extra equipment such as chalk or weightlifting straps.

Benefits of adjustable dumbbells over fixed weight

Marcy Bruce Lee Dragon Adjustable Dumbbells

With 10 different settings so quickly and easily adjustable, if you find supersets and drop sets are an effective part of your training then the Marcy Bruce Lee Dragon dumbbells could really be of benefit.

With such a range of possible weights, this also makes the set ideal for different exercises and strength abilities.

You can slide the pin along to 10kg and perform your set of lateral raises, then rack the dumbbells in place and slide the pin to the full 25kg to perform shoulder presses for example.

Being supplied with storage trays and a square weight plate design also means they won’t roll around in your car if you want to take them with you for quick workouts when you are travelling.

This simply wouldn’t be practical if you were looking to do the same with 10 sets of fixed weight dumbbells due to the amount of space they would take up.

How they compare to other adjustable dumbbell sets

Adjustable dumbbells have certainly gained in popularity over recent years, with both home gyms and personal trainers alike. There are a few other sets worth taking a look at before you decide which to buy.

The most popular options are the Golds Gym Transformer dumbbells, Bodymax Selectabell dumbbells and the PowerBlock Sport dumbbells.

In terms of price, the Marcy Bruce Lee Dragon dumbbells are towards the lower end, with the Bodymax and Golds Gym versions currently costing around 50% more for a set of 2.

The PowerBlocks are certainly another good option if you are looking for lighter dumbbell sets, but you won’t find the same 25kg weight per dumbbell for the same price as the Marcy version.

There are many other factors such as size and how the weight is adjusted which is covered in our dumbbell comparison chart, with the Marcy Bruce Lee Dragon dumbbells certainly near the top of the group.
