If you’re looking for an entry level elliptical that provides you with the basics you need for a low impact cardio workout, the Confidence Elliptical Cross Trainer is currently one of the bestsellers.

But as with any home fitness machine, it’s not without its limitations. That’s why we wanted to create a quick review, providing you with some information on the design features, display console functions and the opinions of other reviewers, to help you decide if this would make a good choice for your own home gym.

Design features

In terms of the design features, the Confidence Elliptical Cross Trainer provides all of the basics you need to enjoy an effective cardio workout.

The manual adjustable tension dial is kept within easy reach for when you want to change the resistance, and the large, anti-slip footplates give you plenty of space to find a posture that reduces strain on your lower back.

The handles can also be switched between static and dual action mode, depending on the muscle groups you want to target.

Static mode will create a more challenging lower body workout, while dual action means you can use your biceps, back, chest, and shoulders to assist you in the exercise.

The extra wide base stabilizers also help to keep the elliptical stable during higher intensity workouts.

Although it’s not a particularly heavy machine, the Confidence Elliptical Cross Trainer also includes a set of transport wheels, making it easier to move to a different location if storage is required between workouts.

Display console design

Although fairly basic, the display console does still provide some useful feedback on your workout

As with any piece of home fitness equipment priced at an entry level, there will inevitably be sacrifices you have to make in terms of features and functions.

For the Confidence Elliptical Cross Trainer, this has meant that you don’t have access to any preset workout programs, and don’t have the option to automatically track the history of your workouts.

For the price, this is honestly what we were expecting, but the display console does still provide you with some useful feedback.

The LCD screen can display your calories burned, speed, time, and distance.

But it’s always worth remembering that the calories burned readout on lower priced machines won’t always be accurate.

If you want an accurate measurement of your calories burned, you need to find a machine that allows you to enter at least your age and weight in order for the console to perform the correct calculations.

Customer reviews

Wider base stabilizers help create a more stable base during high intensity workouts

Whether you have the budget for one of the top end elliptical machines, or you’re looking for a basic way to keep fit, it’s important to know how well the machine works.

One of the best places for discovering any outstanding issues with ellipticals is on Amazon, where there are currently close to 100 reviews for the Confidence Elliptical Cross Trainer.

We don’t tend to write reviews on any fitness product with an average rating of less than 3.5 stars, and this is currently one of those cross trainers that has an average of precisely that.

Any less, and you’re often not getting the best value for money, no matter how low the price is.

The following lists of pros and cons have been put together based on these reviews, which you can find in full over at the Amazon website.
