If you’re looking to buy a new treadmill on a budget, the Confidence Power Plus could be the perfect solution.

After stripping away much of the workout programs and display console functions seen on higher priced machines, what you’re left with is a highly popular, entry level machine.

What makes a bestselling treadmill?

Despite Confidence only having designed a relatively small number of treadmills, their success can be clearly seen with a quick look through the bestsellers list on many online shopping sites.

On Amazon alone, the Confidence Power Plus is one of the highest rated, most reviewed, and bestselling treadmills on their entire site.

But what is it that makes this treadmill stand out from the rest? The low price might account for the high number of sales, but you need something more for so many people to have left so many 5 star reviews.

In this review we take a look at what has made this a best selling treadmill, including the design features, workout programs, a summary of the customer reviews, and the quality of assembly instructions.

Design features

Confidence Power Plus Motorised Treadmill

Before making any final buying decisions, one of the most important features to research is the size of the running area.

This is particularly important with the Confidence Power Plus, whose running area measures just 38.5″ x 14″.

To put this in perspective, many of the top of the range machines offer a running area closer to 60″ x 22″.

The length of the running area will therefore limit most people to a jog rather than a run, simply due to the size of their running stride.

At 38.5″, this is a treadmill that is recommended more for anyone who is less than 5ft 8ins tall, unless you’re looking for a treadmill just for walking workouts.

But there are also advantages from having a smaller running deck.

Not only is the machine much lighter and easier to move around, but it also reduces the effort required to fold the running deck away to slide the machine to one side if you want to make the most of the space between workouts.

Display console design

Confidence Power Plus Motorised Treadmill

Similar to the console design on their higher priced ‘Gtr Power Pro‘ in terms of its minimalist design, there are a few important differences to take into account.

Being a lower priced machine, you have to expect that you won’t see all the features you might be used to on the commercial gym quality treadmills.

In contrast with the Power Pro, you don’t have the quick select functions for switching between preset speeds, and also don’t have the button to switch between workout programs.

You’re also missing the extended hand rails, which kept the speed adjustment and power buttons closer to you during your workout.

However, you do still have the LCD display for keeping you updated with your latest workout information. This includes your speed, time, distance, and an estimation of the calories burned during your current session.

Workout programs

Unfortunately there is a lack of what we would class as workout programs available with the Confidence Power Plus.

You do have a choice of 3 pre-set speed settings that you can quickly switch to using a combination of button functions, but this is more like what you get with the quick select speed buttons on their Gtr Power Pro treadmill.

There are a couple of reasons why you don’t have the same variety of workout programs as higher priced machines.

Obviously there is the price aspect, but also the 1.5 hp motor doesn’t provide the same high belt speeds for running or sprinting, and there aren’t any incline positions available.

That being said, this treadmill is designed to provide more of a no-frills workout for anyone looking to include jogging in their fitness routine, without having to pay for a commercial gym membership.

Ease of assembly

Although not as extensive as the user manual for the Confidence Gtr Power Pro, there really aren’t that many assembly instructions you need to follow.

The running deck, running belt, and motor casing arrive already pre-assembled, leaving just the display console supporting arms and display console itself to be attached.

With such little assembly required, you can have the Confidence Power Plus up and running for your first workout in less than 20 minutes.

Customer reviews

While this review aims to provide you with everything you need to know about the Confidence Power Plus treadmill, it’s always useful to find out other people’s opinions, as they may have different circumstances or have had different experiences.

Being such a popular machine, there’s no shortage of answered questions and customer reviews on Amazon, where you’ll currently find well over 300.

Although most of these are short, reading through 300 reviews can be a time consuming process. This is why we’ve done the reading for you, then put together the lists of pros and cons below based on the points that were mentioned most often.

Pros:

[tie_list type=”checklist”]

  • A good choice of treadmill for recovering from injury due to the lower speed settings
  • Compact size takes up very little space when assembled
  • Quick and easy to assemble
  • Displays important workout information clearly
  • Foldable design and transport wheels makes it easy to move around if required
  • Lower cost compared to most home treadmills

[/tie_list]
