York Active 125 Treadmill Review
The York Active 125 Treadmill features a range of incline and speed settings, together with a range of workout programs designed to provide effective workouts for users of all fitness levels.
The following product article takes a look at the treadmill in more detail, from the design and safety features, to the workout programs and display console to help you decide if this is the best choice of exercise machine for your own home workouts.
Design features

When choosing a new treadmill for use at home, one of the most important points to consider is how much room it will take up.
Whether you are limited on space or just want to keep the treadmill out of the way between workouts, the foldable 6-piece elastic cushioned running deck of the York Active 125 will prove a useful design feature.
This can simply be lifted until you hear the deck locking into position, with a release pedal positioned underneath the treadmill for when you want the belt lowered again.
One final design feature worth taking into consideration is the size of the running deck. Without a large enough running area to cater for your natural running stride length, the speed and incline levels won’t be very useful.
Having a running area of 41cm wide by 130cm long, this puts the York Active 125 treadmill around the middle of the range. The length of the running area is usually most important, with the running stride length often being related to leg length and height.
While this treadmill may still be effective for taller users, the recommended user height for a running deck with a length of 130cm is around 5ft 6ins.
There are several treadmills available with larger running areas, but many of these are much more expensive, such as the Tunturi Classic Run 1.0.
Safety features
If you will regularly be using the treadmill on your own at home then it can be reassuring to know the York Active 125 treadmill includes some useful safety features.
As well as having the main emergency stop button on the console, you can also attach the ‘safety key’ provided to ensure the belt stops moving should you happen to fall while running.
With one end clipped onto an item of clothing, the other attaches to the display console so that if this clip then detaches then the belt will come to a stop.

Ease of assembly
As with many of the York treadmills, the majority of the assembly for the Active 125 has already been done for you when you take it out of the packaging.
The display console supports fold down to rest neatly on top of the main running deck, with the console itself doubled back on the supports to keep the whole treadmill flat.
The only real assembly that’s required between getting the treadmill out of the packaging and enjoying your next cardio workout is adding a few bolts to the base of the display console supports to hold it in place.
Display console design
Although the display console design has been kept very simple, all of the most necessary and useful functions are still available.
In terms of the buttons, either side of the screen are a number of ‘quick select’ options to change between a selection of preset incline and speed settings.
The 6.5″ LCD display screen has been split into 3 main sections to keep you updated with important workout information such as time, distance, calories burned, speed, incline and heart rate. The central section has been reserved for a ‘lap’ style indication of your running progress around a 400 meter virtual running track.
Workout programs
The York Active 125 treadmill provides you with 12 different preset workout programs and a ‘goal’ mode to cater for different fitness levels and workout targets.
The goal mode lets you choose a target running time, distance, or number of calories burned. You are then free to run at your own pace and incline level until you reach your target.
The preset programs vary from lower intensity workouts with little variation in speed and incline, to programs that gradually increase the speed and intensity over time to provide challenging workouts for more experienced runners.
Although these 13 programs do add useful variation to your training, if you enjoy your interval training, it’s worth noting that there are no preset programs for this type of workout.
York Active 125 Treadmill
Being equipped with a 1.25HP motor that speeds the belt up to 10mph (16kph), the York Active 125 Treadmill can still provide a high enough running speed to provide challenging workouts.
The 41cm (16″) x 130cm (51.2″) running area and 0-12% incline range ensures greater workout versatility when combined with the 13 possible workout programs, while the direct select speed and incline keys allow for quick and easy settings changes.
Being fitted with a 6.5″ LCD display also helps with providing feedback on key workout data and keeping track of your current workout goal progress.
