The Tunturi Pure R 10.0 is the flagship recumbent exercise bike in Tunturi’s Pure range. As well as a wide range of workout programmes to choose from including interval, heart rate controlled and resistance controlled, there are also Tunturi’s own custom designed variations.
It is these programs, the design features, the ease of assembly and the additional features that will make your workout more enjoyable (such as internet access) that will be looked at in more detail throughout this product article.
To ensure you are as comfortable as possible during your workouts, the back rest has been made from a mesh type material, the height of which can also be adjusted.
This not only helps with keeping you in a more comfortable position, but also with stimulating blood circulation to the legs.
Equally as important as a comfortable position when training is a stable one. This is why the Tunturi Pure R 10.0 has been designed with 4 adjustable support feet.
If you find the ground you want to position the bike on is uneven, you can simply turn the support feet as required until the bike is stable.
To cater for people who enjoy reading while using an exercise bike, a small storage area has also been added under the seat to hold books or magazines.
If you need to store the bike somewhere when not in use, Tunturi have added a set of wheels to the back to allow you to lift the front and wheel the bike to wherever you need to.
Ease of assembly
While assembling larger and heavier exercise equipment such as treadmills and cross trainers often requires 2 people, the Tunturi Pure R 10.0 can be unpacked and setup by one person in under 30 minutes.
Because the main flywheel housing and base frame comes already pre-assembled, it’s really just a case of building the handlebar frame and seat.
Once the two supporting base plates are added this provides you with a stable structure on which to build, resulting in no heavy lifting.
For anyone worried about the quality of instructions, Tunturi are renowned for providing some of the most detailed and clear instructions of any fitness machine company.
There are 2 pages dedicated to listing all the main parts and bolts you should have in the box and a further 5 pages of in-depth exploded drawings that clearly show how each part needs to fit together.

Display console design
The main on-screen menu has been kept as compact and out of the way as possible to preserve screen space for workout information and scrolling through sub-menu options.
Despite the range of options in the main menu, only one of these is actually for choosing which training programme you want to use.
The other options allow you do to anything from setup a new user profile, to reading an e-Book (if you have E-Books stored on the USB stick) and even access the internet using Wi-Fi.
There is also the option to dock your smartphone and play your own music through the built in speakers.
The first 5 of these have been created as resistance controlled programs, while programs 6 to 10 have been designed as heart rate controlled programs.
While the majority of these programs aim to improve your overall aerobic fitness level and specifically target fat burning, there is also an interval program for anyone that prefers this style of training.
These preset training profiles will also let you set targets to achieve, which you will see counting up or counting down as your workout progresses.
If you would rather just workout at your own pace without setting targets then there is also an option called ‘Quick Start’. This lets you workout for as long as you like without targets while still allowing you to adjust the training resistance.
Tunturi specific workout programs
As well as the 10 preset training profiles there is also the option to choose from 3 of Tunturi’s own custom workouts; T-Ride, T-Road and T-Music.
T-Ride – You can choose from a list of terrains, followed by setting the start and end point for your workout. The on-screen slider can then be used to change gears as you cycle.
T-Road – Similar to a T-Ride training session but can also provide you with a video of your progress displayed on the screen.
T-Music – After inserting the memory stick in the display console you can choose to workout using the T-Music program. This is essentially a heart rate controlled program, where your current heart rate level will control the tempo of the music being played over the course of a 40 minute workout.
