The Tunturi Pure R 6.0 Elliptical Cross Trainer has been designed to fit in around the middle price point of the Pure Cross range, whilst still offering a wide variety of training options.
The aim of the Pure range is to bring fitness into daily life with a stylish and minimalistic design.
The following product article aims to walk you through all the features and workout programmes that the Pure Cross R 6.0 has to offer.
To help with both keeping the weight of the frame to a minimum and provide a more aesthetically pleasing design, the flywheel housing has been designed to be as compact as possible.
If you are looking to buy the Tunturi Pure R 6.0 then you can between a front or rear driven cross trainer design, to suit your preferred training style.
With keeping track of your heart rate being such an important part of your workout, and necessary for the heart rate controlled programmes, the smaller set of handles includes a set of built in heart rate sensors for you to hold onto.
To cater for uneven floors and help prevent any unwanted movement in the frame when exercising, the base of the machine sits on top of 4 fully adjustable support feet.
Ease of assembly
While you will probably only need to put the machine together once, ease of construction can still be an important factor when considering which cross trainer to buy.
One of the great features of all cross trainers in the Pure range is how quickly they can be setup after being unpackaged. 5 pages of exploded drawings is all you need for the Tunturi Pure R 6.0.
All the parts are shown in detailed drawings together with their quantities so you can find out before you start putting it together if you have all the parts you need.
The base frame and flywheel housing comes already assembled so all you need to do is attach the base plates, foot plate bars, vertical support bar for the display console and the handlebars.
While weighing 65kg still doesn’t make this a light cross trainer, the set of wheels attached to the front base stabilizer help make it easier to move around if you need to store the Tunturi Pure R 6.0 away when not in use.

Display console design and custom user profiles
The Tunturi Pure R 6.0 features a display console with a much simpler button layout thanks to the majority of the settings selection being controlled by the central selection dial.
The 4 other buttons are used to start / stop your workout, switch to a cooldown mode, resetting the information displayed on screen and a bodyfat button which will calculate your BMI.
With so much information available for monitoring your workout progress, it’s important to find a cross trainer that displays this all to you in a clear and easy to understand way.
The main feature of the Tunturi Pure R 6.0 display console is the 6″ 2 colour backlit LCD display screen.
This is used to display important workout information including time, speed, distance, calories burned, heart rate and current training resistance level.
Up to 5 custom user profiles can be setup to make sure that workout information such as calories burned is measured as accurately as possible.
The preset workout programme that allows the most customisation to suit your preferred style of training is ‘Manual’. Before you begin a workout this will prompt you to set targets such as time, distance and heart rate limit.
During this type of workout you can also change the resistance through 32 different levels.
If you prefer to simply start your workout and follow a preset programme that automatically varies the resistance, then the Tunturi Pure R 6.0 has 4 different variations of resistance program.
There are also 4 different variations of heart rate controlled program if you are looking at increasing your overall aerobic fitness.
As with the ‘Manual’ workout programme, all 8 of these presets will allow you to set targets at the start for distance, time and heart rate if you want to.
How the R 6.0 compares to other cross trainers in the Pure range
While models such as the R 8.0 and R 10.0 include a series of programmes custom designed and unique to Tunturi, the Tunturi Pure R 6.0 is limited to the T-Scale feature.
This allows variety in both the intensity and duration of your workouts, but doesn’t provide the option to choose your own virtual running route or see your progress as a video on the screen like the Pure R 10.0.
There are a few other minor differences compared to other cross trainers in the Pure range such as the increased stride length (16″ compared to 19″ on the Pure R 8.0), weight of the flywheel (7kg) and number of available custom user profiles and workout programmes.
Weighing up how these features compare across the other cross trainers in the Pure range may be worth considering before making your final buying decision.

This cross trainer is well suited to both home use and light commercial environments such as hospitals, fire stations, hotels and schools.
