Physionics HNTLB12 Weight Bench (Height-Adjustable)
The Physionics HNTLB12 features a compact and lightweight frame that makes it ideal for home gyms without a lot of space available.
Despite its simple design, the low price and height adjustment options make it well suited to lighter dumbbell workouts.
In this review we take a look at the design in a bit more detail, as well as suggesting some alternative weights benches for larger budgets.

Design features

Featuring a similar design to the HNTLB11, the Physionics HNTLB12 weights bench also includes a set of hand wheels attached to the uprights of the frame.
Their toughened plastic finish makes them easy to grip, and can be loosened to allow the height of the back support pad to be raised or lowered.
Although you still don’t have the option to adjust the angle of the bench to perform exercises at an incline or decline, this height adjustment can make a big difference to your workout results.
Whether the exercise is a dumbbell bench press or dumbbell row, the height of the support will impact how well you can perform the exercise, and even affect the shape and development of the muscle.

Benefits of the adjustable frame height
For example, being able to support yourself on a higher platform when performing the dumbbell row will lead to greater activation of the lats and middle back.

In contrast, if you were to lower the height of the bench to be around the same height as our knee, this would lead to a greater focus on your rear delts, traps, and biceps. For the extra flexibility this adds to your workout options, it’s a feature that certainly seems to be worth paying the extra £2 for.
The Physionics HNTLB12 also starts to provide a weight capacity that’s closer to what you might expect from a bench under £100.
When combined with your weights set, the recommended limit for the HNTLB12 is 200kg (150kg for bodyweight, and 50kg for additional free weights, such as dumbbells).

Exercise options
Although the height adjustment feature does increase the number of exercises available compared to the HNTLB11, the HNTLB12 is still a workout bench that’s missing 2 important options.
The first is being able to adjust the angle of the bench so that you can isolate specific areas of the chest, back, and biceps, for greater muscle development.
The second is the lack of attachment options. These can be a great way to increase the number of exercises you can perform in a small space. It will also usual cost a lot less to find a bench that offers different attachments, compared to going out and buying the lat pulldown tower, preacher bench, and leg press equipment separately.
If you would prefer a bench that offers these attachment options, then it might be worth taking a look at the Physionics HNTLB10 (shown in our comparison chart above).
But if you are simply looking for a low priced, flat weights bench, then the Physionics HNTLB12 can still support a number of upper and lower body exercises.
