Design features

Rubber coated covers on each of the 6 support points help prevent any damage to floor surfaces

With the BH Fitness Optima Press bench supporting a maximum weight load of 240kg and a maximum user weight of 100kg, this leaves you with a possible 120kg of weight plates (taking into account the 20kg weight of an Olympic bar).

It is often difficult to keep this quantity of weight plates organised and out of the way of your training. This is why weight plate storage posts have been added to the back of the bench frame.

Each of the 6 base points that have been created to improve stability have also been covered with a rubber cap to prevent damage to the floor surface.

To keep the frame as light and simple to put together as possible there have been no cable pulley systems or weight stacks added. The resistance for all exercises is generated entirely by the amount of weight plates you load onto the front peg or barbell.

To keep your workouts as comfortable as possible when using the bench, the contoured back rest, seat and preacher curl pad are all well padded. The height of the preacher curl pad can also be adjusted or completely removed depending on the exercise being performed.

Upper body workouts

BH Fitness Optima Press Olympic Weight Bench

The BH Fitness Optima Press bench is well suited to a range of upper body exercises for developing a variety of muscle groups including your chest and biceps.

The bench itself can be adjusted quickly by setting the support bar at the required level. With 3 fixed settings for the bar to slot into this lets you choose between flat, incline and decline bench presses.

To ensure the bar supports are at a comfortable level for you to rack and unrack the barbell these are also adjustable. A locking pin is inserted into each upright support to lock the upright support hooks at the desired level.

Other than the main bench press movements for working your chest muscles, the BH Fitness Optima press also comes with a preacher pad for developing your biceps.

To prevent you from relying on owning a separate barbell to perform the exercise, the resistance for the preacher curls is created by loading the weight peg at the front of the bench with the required weight plates.

You can then rest your triceps on the preacher curl pad and curl the resistance using the built in pivoting handle design.

Lower body workouts

The BH Fitness Optima Press Bench features a leg developer with padded foam rollers to allow you to perform leg extensions and hamstring curls

Arguably the most effective exercise for lower body workouts is the squat. This makes a walk in squat rack a key feature to look for when buying any new workout bench, if you don’t already own a separate squat rack.

The bar supports attached to the main upright supports of the BH Fitness Optima Press bench are double sided. This has been designed to act as a support for the barbell during both bench presses and squats.

As well as including a mass building exercise like the squat in your lower body workouts you will probably need a couple of isolation exercises.

The leg developer at the front of the bench can be used for both leg extensions (to target your quadriceps) and hamstring curls (to target your hamstrings).

You can load weight plates onto the weight peg at the front to create the resistance you need for these exercises, similar to when using the preacher curl.
