The Bodymax CF800 has been designed for movements and to handle weights that you would be more used to seeing in a commercial gym, such is the quality and design of this leg press and hack squat machine.

If you have never used a hack squat machine then you are missing out on a great overall mass building leg exercise that primarily focuses on the glutes and hamstrings, but also works the quads and to a lesser extent your calf muscles.


Hack squats

[one_half]To switch the Bodymax CF800 so that you can perform hack squats instead of leg presses, you just need to fold down the platform that you use to rest your feet against when leg pressing.

Although the back rest support can have its angle adjusted with the use of a pin at the side of the main support bar, it’s best if you can make this as close to a right angle with the main track as possible, particularly when you’re performing the hack squat.

With the leg press foot rest folded down, you can then fold the back rest you use when leg pressing out of the way to provide a larger platform to rest your feet on.

Fold the long locking handles up to allow the weight to slide up and down the track until you have completed your target repetitions for that set, and then fold the handles back out to lock the weight in position again.[/one_half]

Being made of such high quality materials and with such a solid construction, you can load the leg press up with around 1000lb of weight which is more than enough for hack squats even if you are a very experienced weightlifter.

For different variations of hack squats you can either perform them facing away from the machine, or facing towards the machine. Whichever way you prefer, always make sure your shoulders are in a comfortable position and pressed up against the shoulder pads.

The two handles attached to the shoulder pads are also angled to help keep your hands out of the way of any moving parts and provide extra power in the movement when pushing back up through the movement.

Leg press exercises with the Bodymax CF800 Leg Press and Hack Squat machine

As well as the hack squats, an exercise you may be more familiar with is the leg press. As shown in the image gallery in this article, the footplate to press your feet against simply folds out and clicks into place.

There are two sets of handles near the seat, one set that form part of the locking mechanism bars that keep the weight locked in place, and one set for holding onto when performing the leg press which stops you moving in the seat under the pressure of the weight.

With such powerful movements for a large muscle group such as legs, you will often need many 20kg weight plates even for your warm up sets. With so many weight plates needed for these exercises it’s useful to find that Bodymax have included two large weight plate storage pins to store the weight plates when not in use.
