Bench design
The decision on which weights bench to buy for your own home gym will usually be determined by a few important factors; price, strength, and versatility.
If you are planning on buying a new weights bench it’s important that it provides you with all the back support positions you need to perform the widest range of exercises you would like to include in future workouts.
Although the Everlast EV115 has been developed as a starter weights bench, it still provides you with decline, flat, and varying levels of incline positions from which to perform a variety of exercises.
Preacher pad and leg curl attachments have been added to further the exercise possibilities, also providing a way of working lower body muscles including your quadriceps and hamstrings.

Bench comparison
With Everlast being such a well established fitness product company, it can be useful to compare the Everlast EV115 with similar benches in terms of both features and cost.
The ‘EV’ range is made up of 4 main workout benches; the EV115, EV120, EV340, and EV440B.
These are usually priced between £125 and £215, which is mainly based on the types of attachments they are provided with, and whether or not the barbell rack is separate from the bench.

Weight set design
A useful addition to the Everlast EV115 weight bench is the 30kg vinyl weight plate set with 5ft barbell.
The 5ft barbell makes it a much more comfortable length for performing preacher curls with than the 6ft or full Olympic length bars, as well as being a perfect length for using with the barbell supports.
Although your strength level may be beyond the weight plates provided in this set, they can still be useful for building up your collection for use on other bars and dumbbells.
The vinyl casing also helps to keep the weights quieter when in use, and prevents damage to the floors if dropped.

Upper body workouts
Although the best upper body workout bench in the ‘EV’ range is generally considered to be the EV440B due to the lat pulldown tower and vertical back support position, the Everlast EV115 still provides some very effective upper body workout options.
The back support can be adjusted from decline through to incline to allow you to perform all variations of bench press, as well as pullovers when set to the flat position.
When combined with a good quality dumbbell set, seated concentration curls, dumbbell rows, and lying tricep extensions are just a few of the other exercises made possible with this bench.

Lower body workouts
While the lower body exercise options are more limited than the EV340 due to the barbell rack being attached to the bench, the Everlast EV115 still provides a leg developer.
This leg developer allows you to perform both leg extensions (to target the quadriceps) and lying leg curls (targets hamstrings), which still remain two of the most effective isolation exercises for these muscles.
