Marcy Diamond Elite Olympic Bench with Squat Rack
The Marcy Diamond Elite Olympic Bench with squat rack is a weight bench that has been designed and developed around the more serious weight lifter.
If you already have a barbell and weight plate set, or are purchasing a set along with this bench then you will have everything you need to perform all the major mass building exercises. The rear pegs allow for walk in squats, a free weight exercise that develops your entire lower body, together with strengthening your core.
You can either perform these as back squats (resting the bar on the back of your shoulder blades) or front squats (resting the bar on the front of your shoulders).

Weight plate storage and bench adjustments

A nice addition to the Marcy Diamond Elite weight bench is the Olympic weight plate storage holders. You will often see bench systems that have all the exercise equipment but nowhere to store your weight plates, meaning you have to buy a separate plate storage rack.
Another design feature is in the way the bench has been constructed with a quick release pin and with the frame support at such an angle to allow for either decline, flat, incline or military presses. Although some users of weight benches prefer a vertical bar support section, the slight angle in the rack of the Marcy Diamond Elite bench and squat rack provides you more room to bench press without worrying about hitting the bar supports on the push portion of the movement.

Important safety features
For added safety when performing these movements, the Marcy Diamond Elite bench has two separate sets of quick adjust safety bar catches, which are supplied in two different lengths.
The shorter safety catches are perfect for bench pressing exercises, or those where you need to unrack the bar and get straight into the movement, while limiting the distance you have to move the bar to get to the starting position. While not only helping to prevent injury, this will also mean you can perform more repetitions.
The longer safety bar catches are perfect for if you want to stand with your legs either side of the bench and perform barbell shrugs with the safety of the supports so you can take the exercise to failure. Due to the low height that these can be set to, they are also perfect for acting as a failsafe if you do lower the bar during a bench press but can’t press it all the way up and will prevent you getting pinned under the bar.
Military presses are also possible with the Marcy Diamond Elite bench system. These can be performed either from the bench or from a standing position thanks to the addition of the rear barbell supports.

Isolation exercises with the Marcy Diamond Elite

Aside from all of these excellent upper and lower body mass building exercises that are possible, you can also isolate specific muscles such as your biceps, quadriceps (front of your upper leg) and hamstrings (back of your upper leg).
The padded preacher curl rest at the front of the bench has been designed with a handlebar shape as opposed to being a standard straight bar.
This makes it more comfortable to curl with either an underhand or overhand grip, depending on if you want to focus on the short or the long head of the bicep muscle.
The resistance is set for the preacher curl the same as it is set for the hamstring curl and leg extension. With the weight plate holder at the front of the bench you can attach weight plates all the way up to the full 20kg plates depending on the exercise.
When you aren’t using the leg developer for lower body exercises just remember to secure the spring loaded locking catch to lock the padded rollers in place and provide added stability during the bench pressing movements when you are wrapping your ankles underneath.
