Physionics HNTLB01 Weight Bench With 90kg Weight Set

Although the Physionics HNTLB01 Weight Bench can be bought separately, we chose to review the package that also includes the 90kg weight set. We wanted to find out whether the added weight set represents good value for money, or if you would be better off buying the two separately.

Throughout this review we also take a look at the exercise options, design features, and what you can expect to receive if you were to buy this bench for your own home gym.

Upgraded foldable bench design

Physionics HNTLB01 Weight Bench

If you’ve already been taking a look at some of the other weights benches by Physionics, you might have noticed some similarities with the HNTLB10.

The barbell supports have been kept, as have the pec fly arms and leg developer attachments.

Although the Physionics HNTLB01 doesn’t include the preacher curl pad and lat pulldown tower, this actually makes the setup much more compact, with the weights set taking its place.

This means you can start your home workouts from the second the bench is setup.

Despite the barbell supports being at a fixed height, even with the back support at the highest incline setting you can still position yourself comfortably under the bar.

Safety features and a foldable design

As an added safety feature, the HNTLB01 also includes a set of bar catchers. These are attached at the top of the barbell supports, and can rotate to lock the bar in place while you change the weight.

One final design feature worth mentioning is the foldable frame.

Even with the pec fly arms and leg developer, the rounded base frame ensures the bench can be folded vertically and remain stable.

With the pec fly arms attached to the uprights rather than the back support pad, this also takes up less space when folded, giving you room to perform other exercises.

Workout options using the 90kg weight set

Similar to the other benches in the Physionics range, the HNTLB01 does feel slightly limited in the number of lower body exercises available.

Leg extensions and leg curls are both possible with the leg developer, but you would really need to combine this bench with a squat rack or squat stands if you wanted a more effective leg workout.

Upper body exercise options are much better, with the pec fly arms and incline settings making it possible to put together a full chest workout.

Pullovers and dumbbell rows are also possible using the bench, but the weights set is really what gives you some flexibility when creating your workout plan.

The following list is a few of the more popular exercises that can be performed using the Physionics HNTLB01 bench and weights set:
[tie_list type=”checklist”]

  • Chest – Pec flys, incline bench press, flat bench press
  • Back – Dumbbell rows, barbell rows, pullovers
  • Triceps – Tricep kickbacks, overhead tricep extensions, close grip bench press
  • Biceps – Barbell curls, dumbbell curls, hammer curls
  • Legs – Leg extensions, leg curls, single leg split squat
  • Shoulders – Seated dumbbell shoulder press, side lateral raises, upright rows

Price comparison

Physionics HNTLB01 Weight Bench

Whenever you buy a bench and weight set packaged together, it’s always useful to be able to workout their separate values, to make sure you are getting a good deal.

With many retailers currently offering the Physionics HNTLB01 weights bench on its own for between £50 and £55, this leaves you with around £100 to account for the weights set (full package usually available for £150).

If we take a look at the weights sets you can buy for under £100, do they provide more weight or better quality than the set included with this bench?

A quick search on Amazon shows that the 100kg weight sets usually only include the barbell and dumbbells, without a cambered bar.

So in terms of the exercises available, it looks like a sensible option to buy the Physionics HNTLB01 as a package.

Next we looked at price. How much were the other 100 kg barbell and dumbbell sets selling for?

Depending on the company that made the set, we were able to find the prices varied from between £345 for the Revolution Olympic kit, to around £140 for the 100kg set by Gorilla Sports.

Most usually only offered the Olympic sized plates and a barbell for closer to £200.

So the extra £100 you pay for the Physionics HNTLB01 weight set does represent good value for money.
