The Powerline PFID125X Folding Bench provides the variety of back support positions you would expect from a gym quality bench, but with the advantage of being foldable for easy storage after your workouts.

Design features

Whether you are looking for a bench to setup in your bedroom, or have an area set aside to hold a full scale home gym, getting the most from the space you have is always important.

This is one of the reasons why the Powerline PFID125X was designed. To offer the same positions you would expect from a commercial gym bench, but with the versatility to fold away when not in use.

In terms of the back support design, a simple racking feature means this can be adjusted through 7 different positions, from decline, through a variety of incline angles, to nearly vertical. This also saves worrying about any issues with locking pins that usually come with the sliding rail style of bench adjustment.

If you need to move the bench around at all between sets, transport wheels have been built into the rear stabilizer. This is ideal for if you want to use the bench in combination with a squat rack or power cage for barbell workouts.

To prevent you from sliding off the top of the bench when in the decline position, foot supports have also been included above the front stabilizer.

Folding bench comparison

Powerline PFID125X Folding Bench

Although there are dozens of weights bench designs now available, there are actually surprisingly few that can be folded almost completely flat.

Of the weights benches we know of, there are really only two others that offer a folding option, and one of these offers no incline or decline positions.

The Confidence Fitness Utility bench offers the same range of back support positions as the Powerline PFID125X, but relies on a sliding track adjustment.

This can take longer to change back support positions in between workout sets, and causes you to become completely reliant on the locking pin mechanism for the bench to function.

The Powerline PFID125X instead features a simple lift-and-lock back support bar, allowing you to simply and adjust the back rest to the required angle.

The other foldable weights bench worth mentioning is the Bodymax CF412.

In terms of price, the CF412 is usually available for less than the PFID125X. But if you are looking for a weights bench to support complete upper body workouts then it’s important to find one that at least offers some incline positions.

The Powerline PFID125X also has the benefit of a 10 year warranty on the frame, and 1 year warranty on any parts.

Exercise options

While you can still use this bench for exercises on its own, if you want to get the most benefit out of the different positions then you will need to combine it with a high quality dumbbell set.

With the strength of the frame and transport wheels to quickly move it into place, you can even use the Powerline PFID125X for barbell workouts in a power rack or smith machine.

The following list includes both upper and lower body exercises, to give you an idea of what’s possible when combined with even a dumbbell set.

Customer reviews

In general, it’s often more difficult to find customer reviews for weightlifting equipment than it is for cardio equipment. That being said, if you can find them then they remain an important part of researching a product before you buy.

Fortunately Amazon has a number of recent reviews that go beyond just a one line response, providing detailed feedback on both the positives and negatives of the Powerline PFID125X.

Although there are currently no reviews lower than 4 stars out of 5, we’ve still summarised the most frequently mentioned pros and cons in the lists below.

I have limited space at home so needed a bench that would fold up neatly and quickly. This bench does this superbly. I can have it standing upright against the wall to unfolded and ready to use in less than 15 seconds – Amazon Verified Purchase
