Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 Motorised Treadmill Review

The Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 is one of the recently released ‘Pure’ range of treadmills, complete with everything you need for successful and progressive workouts.

One of the largest running decks available on a light commercial treadmill, multiple fitness tests and a variety of speed and incline levels are just a few of the features looked at in more detail in the following product article.

Design and safety features

One of the most attractive design features to any treadmill is a large running deck area. Fortunately the Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 features one of the largest running areas of any treadmill available at a measurement of 150cm (L) x 50cm (W).

The hand rails feature built in heart rate sensors to provide an accurate measurement of your heart rate during your workout, and are required if you want to train using the heart rate controlled programme. Quick select buttons have also been conveniently positioned on the handrails for adjusting the speed and incline of the running deck.

If you don’t like the thought of holding onto the handrails for your entire workout to maintain an accurate measurement then this treadmill is also compatible with heart rate chest belts.

Aside from the quick stop button, the Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 also includes a feature called a ‘safety key’. One end of this attaches to the display console and the other clips onto an item of clothing. This way if you trip on the running belt and the clip pulls out of the display, then the belt will very quickly come to a complete stop.

Like many of the new fitness machines in Tunturi’s Pure range, the Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 has been designed with adjustable support feet to make sure the treadmill is stable when exercising.

If you are looking to buy this treadmill for rehabilitation purposes, then there is even the option to add a rehab-handrail.

Ease of assembly

To help preserve space when not in use it has become relatively common to be able to fold the running belt up to reduce the space the machine takes up.

It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the case with treadmills in the Pure range, none of which can be folded. While this does mean that you need to be sure of having a permanent workout area, it also results in a much simpler construction.

With just 7 main parts to put together (not including the pack of bolts), the Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 is one of the simplest and quickest treadmills to setup. Clear diagrams are accompanied by exploded drawings to clearly show how each bolt and piece is supposed to slot together, meaning you can start working out almost straight away.

Although the entire product weight is around 130kg, this is predominantly the running belt. If you are able to find someone to help lift the box to where you want it setup, the assembly can be a one person job.

Display console design

Similar in design to the Pure Run 4.0 treadmill, the display console has been kept to a very slim profile while still clearly displaying all the important workout information.

One of the key differences between the Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 and 4.0 is the addition of indicators in the central display area which are used to show which workout programme you are currently working out using.

Beneath this there are the standard buttons for increasing and decreasing both the speed and the incline, except with some much more original icons than your usual plus and minus symbols.

Workout information including calories burned, heart rate, time, distance and incline and speed settings has been split out into their own smaller display screens. This helps to make it clearer and quicker to find the information you need during your workout.

Fitness tests

While workout programmes are great for providing you with the basis for an effective workout, it can be difficult to measure how you are progressing.

The Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 comes with two fitness tests already pre-programmed which can be used to track improvements in your aerobic capacity and overall fitness level.

The two different types are called ‘Cooper’ and ‘2 Km Walking’.

2 Km Walking – This test measures your fitness level based on your heart rate during the exercise and the time it takes you to complete a 2 Km course.

Cooper – The Cooper fitness test is purely based on how far you can run within a set time period of 12 minutes. This simply suggests that the further you can run in that time, the fitter you are.

To provide an indicator of fitness, both fitness tests will assess the required factors of the workout and provide you with an estimate of your maximum oxygen uptake capacity.

This is currently considered one of the most accurate measurements of someone’s aerobic fitness level.

Tunturi Pure Run 6.0

Overall the Tunturi Pure Run 6.0 Motorised Treadmill is an effective piece of exercise equipment for a wide range of body types and fitness levels.

This is thanks to the variety of training programmes, extra long running deck to cater for the natural longer stride of taller users and even the high maximum user weight rating.

The only possible negative is that the running deck can’t be folded, although even this adds a further benefit of extra stability while running when paired with the addition of the adjustable support feet.
